The J.M. Publishing Story |
||
Started in 1997, J&M Publishing was founded to publish the WSSA Snoflyer
with a three-fold goal of improving the overall appearance and readability
of the publication, helping more local businesses find direct exposure
to Northwest snowmobilers, and increasing membership of the WSSA.
It took us just three riding seasons to transform the Snoflyer completely.
Where it was a 24-page black and white newsletter, it is now a professional,
full color, 48-64 page tabloid. It is this kind of professionalism that
we can offer to other associations who desire a top-notch publication. In September of 2000 we were contracted to publish the ISSA Snow Biz and CNSA Snow Tracks, due to, in part, the new and improved look and feel of the Snoflyer, including the support of more advertisers, addition of full color pages and the increased size of the paper. In June of 2001, we took over the publishing responsibilities for Tri-Power, a monthly publication for the Pacific Northwest Four-Wheel Drive Association. Each is now much bigger and better than when we began working on it. Most recently, in 2003, I, Kris Murray, started Just Murray Publishing, Inc. (a.k.a./d.b.a. J. M. Publishing & DragonTail Design). This was a new corporation, and in complete conjunction with both previous owners of J&M. The decision to create a new corporation was an economic and strategic one. We now are able to focus our publishing efforts exclusively on the ISSA Snow Biz and the CNSA Snow Tracks. Our relationship with our two clients has become our focus and our passion. Within seven months of the change we were able to upgrade both publications to full color. This improvement makes the product more marketable and much for attractive for the associations which we serve. In the future we are working to expand readership and thereby increase association membership through various strategies. If you are a snowmobile enthusiast, you owe it to yourself and the sport you love to learn about the association in your area and join it.
